Great code Sridhar!

Do you have something that does the opposite? As in, smooth scrolling from a link at the top of a page down to an anchor within the page?

Alex... Try adding this to remove your line:

.menu-facebook, .menu-twitter, .menu-linkedin, .menu-youtube, .menu-gplus {
     border: 0px !important;
}

And this should remove your hover effects:

.menu-facebook :hover, .menu-twitter :hover, .menu-linkedin :hover, .menu-youtube :hover, .menu-gplus :hover {
     background: none !important;
     box-shadow: none !important;
}

Great stuff. I followed everything step by step. You made it really easy. Thanks for that.

It's almost done.

The problem I'm having now is that I'm using the Depot theme and there's a background hover effect behind the icons which completely covers the icons on the hover and a vertical line to the right of the icons which I can't remove (I want the line there for the text portion of the navigation, just not the social icons)

How can I remove the hover and lines for the icons?

Lastly, can the social icons open in a new tab rather than direct people off of my site.

The site I'm working on is www.AlexNavas.com/new

Chris,

Thanks so much for this information. I've been working with websites for several years and never knew why it was necessary to use more than one font when defining a font-family; I just did it because that's what I saw in other CSS code. Knowing the reason behind it will definitely help me build better websites. Now I know I should test the various font-families on different browsers like you said you do when building a website.

I also appreciate the resources you gave for building different font stacks. Since I didn't know they were called "font stacks" I've had a difficult time in figuring out what fonts should go together when building a site.

I would love to see more technical articles like this.

Okay - the problem was that I needed to make the path "/launch" and not "/launch/" as the launch page slug does not have the "/" on the end.

Hope that makes sense. Thanks for your help!

It is likely that you have not set up your accessible paths correctly. On the Maintenance Mode Plugin page you will see a "Paths to be still accessible" area. Here you need to place <strong>/launch/</strong> as a path that is still accessible.

Thanks - I like this idea, but when I tried it I get a browser error about too many redirects. Is there another problem or setting that should be set?

Thanks.
